What is MIND OVER ADDICTION?

In short, Mind Over Addiction® is learning to empower yourself over smoking using only the power of your mind.

This approach is much different than willpower. It's more about tricking your brain to turn off the urge to smoke.

WHY IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE SO HARD

Millions have stopped smoking in an "Ah Ha!" moment of clarity. No withdrawal, no willpower struggle... just POOF and smoking is history. Millions more have used hypnosis, Neuro-Linguistic Programming,(NLP) or some other type of talk therapy.

Although easy quitting is a time-proven fact, science chooses to focus on nicotine addiction and how hard it is to quit and they ignore that the right mindset can wipe smoking out of your life.

So, how do you change your mindset?

SMOKING AS A MENTAL CONSTRUCT

Science blames nicotine for smoking addiction. But what really causes you to smoke (and also makes it hard to quit) is your mental construct as illustrated here:

Once pointed out, almost every smoker immediately realizes that smoking is more of an emotional crutch or bad habit, rather than a pure nicotine addiction.

I'll talk more about nicotine later, but let's take a nail biter for instance. It's really hard for these folks to to stop biting their nails but does that mean it's chemical addiction to fingernails?

Let's face it. Addiction isn't just chemicals like nicotine... but what is it?

As pictured below, triggers (stress, coffee etc) filter through your mental construct (beliefs, fears, experiences). The result is a powerful drive to smoke I call Conditioned State Energy (CSE).

CSE is the "addictive voice" almost every addict has to deal with. It's root cause is the thought system of the smoker.

For example, most smokers believe smoking is relaxing when the chemicals in tobacco act like a stimulant. Most believe smoking is pleasurable when most smokers don't even notice they're smoking them anymore.

These thoughts make quitting hard but can also make a smoker relapse years after nicotine has left the body. So, the bottom line is:

Physical urges are caused by thought!

Therefore, to make cravings vanish you must change your thinking!

The Mind Over Addction Model

So, how do you change your thinking? Well, some people hit bottom and have no choice. But, the goal of seeking help is to stop NOW.

Every successful technique that helps smokers, follows the following model:

  • Education to eliminate fear and set the right plan,
  • Motivation to eliminate the willpower struggle and
  • Imagination to unlock the top-down power of your brain to overcome past learning.
